Gateway PGA Junior Tour – Competitive Opportunities

Share

There are so many opportunities to play junior golf around the Gateway region.  St Louis has really become a hub for Junior Golf.  2017 will be no exception as we welcome the strongest field in all of junior golf at the Junior PGA Championship at the Country Club of St Albans.

We are dedicating a day, each week, to share all of the programs, tournaments and opportunities that exist within the Gateway PGA.  We oversee and administer programs that include Boys & Girls Clubs Golf, PGA Junior League Golf, Drive/Chip/Putt, and a Spring/Summer/Fall Tour that provides on-course golf from the beginning development stages to PGA Junior Championships.

The Gateway Junior PGA is owned, influenced and guided by the 335 PGA Professionals who serve the game of golf at local facilities across our region.  We are lucky to have access to their great properties and their tireless commitment to serve the game and our junior golfers.

For your reference, we have made a skills placement chart that can be viewed by clicking: Gateway PGA’s Skill Placement Chart.

Today, we wanted to share a bit more about our path for those juniors who are looking for the pathway to the competitive experience:

For the new or beginner golfer that is not ready for competitive golf the Gateway PGA also conducts the Junior Development Tour.

Junior Development Tour (JDT):

The Gateway PGA Section’s Junior Development Tour strives to introduce young people to the game of golf, in a safe and fun environment, through learning/skill development, course play, and individual discovery.  Throughout the year, we offer juniors the opportunity to learn from PGA Golf Professionals and play golf at the area’s best venues for beginner junior golfers. For 2017, the Junior Development Tour will be divided into three levels of player progress: Fairway Finders (Level 1), Birdie Ballers (Level 2) & the Links Legends (Level 3).  These levels cater to the young beginner golfer and provide an environment for development and growth. Eventually, these JDT juniors will progress & be welcomed into the Gateway PGA’s competitive 9, 18 hole, and Tour divisions.
