The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team had four selected to the All-GLVC team, as announced today by the league office.
Juniors Alexa Capesius and Stefaniya Ivanova were both selected based on their top-five finishes at the GLVC Championships in April, while sophomore Maxi Roth and freshman Emma Thorngren were voted on by the coaches.
Capesius owns a scoring average of 77.63 and has six top-10 finishes. She won the individual title at the Buccaneer Spring Classic and was runner-up at the GLVC Championships with a career-best 145.
Ivanova is shooting 76.67 this season and has seven top-10 finishes, including runner-ups at the Screaming Eagle Golf Classic and the Oak Terrace Fall Invite. She tied for fifth place at the GLVC Championships.
Roth is second on the team with a 76.17 average, which also ranks second on the single season charts, and owns eight top-10 finishes. She claimed medalist honors for the first time in her career at the Triton Invitational.
Thorngren owns a program single season best average of 75.00, having finished in the top 10 in all but one meet, and recording eight top-five finishes. She was medalist twice, winning the Oak Terrace Fall Invite and the Findlay-Beall Fall Classic.
Additionally, junior Ares Boira was selected as UMSL’s nominee for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.
This group of players have helped UMSL to a program-best 303.75 scoring average, five team victories – which equals a single season record, and the program’s eighth straight NCAA appearance.
