
Echelmeier wins Columbia City Championship
Mizzou recruit Matt Echelmeier came from a shot back and defeated former Rock Bridge HS teammates Jack Knoesel and Hudson Dubinski by two and three shots respectively to win the Columbia City Championship on Sunday. August 9. The trio were the top three players on Rock Bridge’s 2014 state championship golf team.
David Teel won the Senior Division by four shots over Ron Eilers and Ed Paten. Don Steele won the Super Senior Division.
The first round of the event was played at Columbia’s Lake of the Woods GC, the second at A. L. Gustin GC, and the final round at Country Club of Missouri.
Knoesel is a U. of Tulsa recruit while Echelmeier will join brother Will this fall on Coach Mark Leroux’s Mizzou golf team. Dubinski will be a sophomore at Rock Bridge HS in 2015.
The Championship is held every summer to benefit the Columbia Golf Foundation. It attracted well over 50 golfers this year in the Championship and Senior divisions.
