Will Doorack
Will Doorack is a Senior at St. Louis University High School. Will was co-champ of last week’s tournament win at the Missouri Bluffs with an even par 71.
TMGP: What/who got you started into the game of golf?
Will: My grandpa and my dad got me started really young, so I grew up chipping in the basement or hitting balls in the backyard. My dad has been my main swing coach up until last year, since then I work out the kinks by myself.
TMGP: Do you have a regular “game” with friends?
Will: I caddy at Old Warson and every Monday the caddies are allowed to play, so we usually play a skins game or a two-man scramble.
TMGP: What’s the best golf related advice/tip that you’ve ever been given?
Will: Think about everything in your pre-shot routine, not when you’re standing over the ball.
TMGP: Do you feel that your perspective on the game has changed or evolved since you first started playing?
Will: Yes. I used to try to hit the ball as hard as I could to keep up with everyone else, now I just club up and swing easy.
TMGP: Do you have any specific golf products that you rely on/enjoy using?
Will: I rely on my rangefinder a ton, especially if the course isn’t well marked.
TMGP: When Missouri is covered in snow do you fly off to play on warmer courses? If so, where do you go?
Will: My grandpa has a house in Arizona, so if I’m lucky I’m able to fly out once a winter to play golf with him.
TMGP: What would you say are the top 3 golf courses in Missouri?
Will: 1.) Boone Valley, 2.) Old Warson, 3.) Saint Louis Country Club
