Springfield, Mo. – The Columbia College men’s golf team made history today as they claimed their first ever tournament win at the Evangel Fall Invitational. The Cougars won the event by 19 strokes on Tuesday, as they shot a 4-over par 868 (285-288-295).
Missouri Valley College finished in second place with a 23-over par 887 (295-288-304), while John Brown University, ended up in third, scoring a 31-over par 895 (292-294-309). Culver-Stockton, earned a fourth place finish, hitting a 33-over par 897 while American Midwest Conference (AMC) member Hannibal-LaGrange placed fifth with a 37-over par 901.
Hunter Parrish led the Cougar men as he tied for second place after shooting 212 (69-74-69, -4). Freshman Daymond Dollens turned in his scorecard with a 2-over par 218 (70-71-77, +2), for fifth place while teammate Trevor Croninfinished sixth with a score of 219 (72-72-75, +5). Caleb Abalos 224 (74-71-79, +7) and Ben Charles (80-76-74, +2) rounded out the scoring, placing ninth and twenty-third, respectively.
Parrish, Dollens, Cronin, and Abalos were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts.
The Cougars will host the Cougar Classic on October 5th and 6th for their next outing. The event will be hosted by Columbia Country Club.
