Cougar Golf Continues to Give Back to Community
Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men’s and women’s golf teams took part in the Millcreek Elementary Golf Day hosted by A.L Gustin Golf Course and was co-sponsored by the Columbia Golf Foundation under the direction of Millcreek Elementary Assistant Principal Mark Burlison and CGF Director John Weston.
Head golf Coach John Utley along with golfers Hunter Parrish, Colbey Schuster, Caleb Abalos and Claire McDonald participated in the event where they assisted by giving golf instruction to approximately 140 second graders throughout the day. In addition to full swing instruction, the players helped with golf course maintenance, explained by A.L. Gustin Superintendent Isaac Breuer, putting, rules and scoring. Twenty other community volunteers also participated in the event.
The Athletic Department is always interested in hearing about new ways to be more involved with the Columbia community. If you know of possible opportunities for Cougar athletes to be involved, please contact Tracy Jex at tjex@ccis.edu or 573-875-7197.
