Columbia, Mo. – Cougar golf coach John Utley has announced the signing of Gage Brauns to a Letter of Intent to join the Columbia program in the fall of 2016.
Brauns will join the Cougars following a successful career at Greenville High School in Greenville, Ill. The four year letter winner led the comets to four consecutive conference championships and was named All-Conference each year. The squad also advanced to the sectional tournament in 2014 and 2015 under Brauns leadership.
During his senior campaign, Brauns medaled at five events, and finished in the top-10 at four different tournaments. He also placed 2nd overall at the IHSA regional tournament and 5th overall at the IHSA sectional tournament. In addition, Gage qualified for the state tournament and finished the year with a 76.6 stoke average.
“Gage is a very hard worker that puts in more time working on his game than anybody I know” said Greenville Head Golf Coach Denny Lloyd . “Due to that work ethic I know Gage has what it takes to contribute at the next level and be a good college player.”
Bruans also won the 36 hole Gateway PGA event at Bellrive Country Club in St. Louis, Mo. and was voted Metro East Coaches All Area Golfer 2015.
“I’ve watched Gage continue to get better the last 4 years” said Utley. “He is a worker and fierce competitor. I look forward to having him help our program.”
Away from the Links, Gage is also successful where he holds a 3.75 GPA and is a member of the Student Council and FCA. He plans to major in accounting.
