The third round of play at begins at 8 a.m.

Columbia, Mo. –  Led by redshirt junior Michelle Butler, Mizzou Women’s Golf closed out the first day of play at the MountainView Collegiate Invitational sitting in 10th overall. The Tigers boast a score of 11-over par, while Butler sits among the top-10 individuals as she finished the day 2-under par.  FIU currently leads the tournament, followed by Ohio State and Texas State.

Butler finished the day strong, tallying three consecutive birdies in the second round, and capping that streak with an eagle on the ninth hole. She shot 5-under par on her second round of the day.

Senior Alina Rogers is just a few strokes back as she sits in a tie for 30th with a score just 1-over par. Sophomore Jess Meek is also close behind as she shot 3-over par on the day to tie for 40th in the tournament.

Senior Laura Kraft and freshman Clara Young shot 9-over par and 11-over par, respectively, through two rounds of play. The third round will begin tomorrow with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The Tigers are competing among a field of 20 teams on the course at MountainView Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. which boasts a 6,227-yard, Par 72 course. Joining the Tigers at MountainView will be Arkansas State, BYU, Cal State Fullerton, Colorado State, Florida International, Fresno State, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, North Texas, Old Dominion, Ohio State, Purdue, Texas State, UNC Greensboro and Wyoming.
