In the final MIAA sanctioned tournament of the year, Central Missouri Mules Golf took to the links for the first two rounds of the Broncho Stampede in Edmond, Okla., hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma.
After two rounds, the Mules are in fourth place and John Bonaobra is third as an individual. UCM is a +11, 587 through 36 holes and trail the leader Missouri Western by 14 strokes. The Mules are also two strokes behind Central Oklahoma for third place.
Bonaobra has shot a -3, 141 and sits third as an individual. He was under par in both rounds shooting rounds of 71 and 70 on the par 72 course.
After the first round, Bonaobra’s teammate Shayne Allan was also a one-under-par 71. He finished round two at a +3, 75 and is in a tie for 13th place after carding a +2, 146.
Sam Parrott regrouped after shooting a six-over 78 in round one with a -2, 70 in round two. He tied for 18th place with a 36-hole score of +4, 148.
Matt Hoemann is the Mules fourth scorer. He shot a +10, 154 on day one and is tied for 40th place. Cole Dillon is two strokes behind Hoemann with a +12, 156. He had rounds of 79 and 77.
Playing as an individual, Travis Simmons has a +9, 153. He is in a tie for 36th place.
Missouri Western is the team leader. They were the only team to shoot under par. They stand at -3, 573 and are seven strokes ahead of second place Lindenwood. There is a tie for the individual lead with the Griffons Tom Buffington and Yente Van Doren. They are both -6, 138. Buffington had the low round of the day carding a 66 through the first 18 holes.
Tomorrow will see the third and final round. The first group tee’s off at 8 a.m. The Mules will be playing with Washburn and Nebraska-Kearney and teeing off at 8:45 a.m.
