The team of Bruce Fleisher and Larry Nelson won the over 65 division of the Bass Pro Legends of Golf on Sunday, April 26. Fleisher, a former US Amateur champion, said, “Thank God there were only 11 teams in the legends division, and we were able to come out on top.”
Nelson said “ We made six birdies in a row on Friday and that kind of got us going…Yesterday was a really hard day to play with the wind and frankly we just tried to survive because we knew it would be a tough day for scoring…”
He continued, “I was glad to see Gary and Jack (Player and Nicklaus) play well. It was just a great week for us. This is a spectacular venue and we really appreciate everything about it. I will continue to tell my fellow pros on the Champions Tour that they really should come here and see this part of the country and what Johnny Morris has done with these golf courses and with Big Cedar Lodge.”
