The teams have been announced for the 2015 Gateway Cup Matches April 12-13; Best Ball Matches for Sunday Set
The battle for golf bragging rights between the Gateway club pros and the top amateurs in the St. Louis region will be contested this Sunday and Monday at Bellerive Country Club in west St. Louis county, site of the 2018 PGA Championship.
The teams have been announced by the respective directors, Josh Riley of the Gateway PGA Section and Curt Rohe of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association. The pros will be captained by Scott Brauer, head golf professional at Meramec Lakes GC in Saint Clair, MO. His squad includes the following pros:
Bob Gaus, Brian Fogt, Mike Suhre, Ryan Roy, JC Anderson, Gideon Smith, Brandon Veld, Mike Tucker, Jimmy Bals, Ty Zimmerman and seniors Nash Haxel, Rob Sedorcek, Jeff Whitfield, and Dave Levine.
The amateurs, captained by Andy Frost, include:
Brian Lovett, Skip Berkmeyer, Phil Caravia, John Anderson, Buddy Allen, Patrick Riordan, Alex Cusumano, Van Pierce, and Ted Moloney. The amateur seniors are Jeff Johnson,Scott Edwards,Mark Gardiner, and Jack Eisenbeis.
The teams will play best ball matches on Sunday and return Monday to play foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon.
The Matches were last played in 2013 at CC at St. Albans to a 14-14 tie.
